Julie Finefrock is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She received her Bachelors in English Literature and Theatre Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Masters in Social Work from New York University. In addition to her fifteen+ years of work with teens and adults, Julie is an actor, writer, social justice activist, long-term partner and parent.
Julie has worked as a school social worker in a performing arts middle school, as a counselor at the Mental Health Association of Morris/Essex NJ, and as a clinician at Jawanio’s PROS program. Before beginning her career in mental health, she spent twenty years acting, directing, writing, teaching, coaching and tutoring. Julie currently offers college counseling, clinical counseling, and enhanced educational services. Her early work with children experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities paved the way for a career centered around validating alternative learning styles and empowering students to advocate for themselves. She has found that her clinical work often involves a certain amount of education, and her teaching work utilizes a wide variety of therapeutic skills. Her rich experiences as an artist, activist, parent, teacher, and lifelong learner have created a unique lens that allows her to see each client in a multifaceted and intersectional manner.
